This book is a reader of case studies of the application of systems analysis techniques to actual problems in planning and design. The studies are intended to complement the growing and already extensive, theoretical literature on systems analysis. The cases have been selected to illustrate the relative strengths and the usefulness of alternative approaches to formulating and solving large-scale planning problems.
