Soil Mechanics

The purpose of this book is to provide a clear-cut, contemporary and stimulating text in a convenient form for engineering students who are beginning the study of soil mechanics. Soil is made by nature. As a natural construction material, it possesses a variety of physical properties, most of which are not constant. This tendency of soils to fluctuate in their physical properties is in contradistinction to the behavior of artificially manufactured materials, iron and steel for example, the properties of which are relatively constant.
