Infrastructures for Prosperity

Infrastructure Development is essential in order to accelerate the economic growth, reducing poverty and reducing disparity in the regions as well as addressing broader development goals. It is the reason for the government of Indonesia to prioritize infrastructure development. President Joko Widodo, popularly known as Jokowi, had targeted the development of 2025 national sterategis projects consist of toll roads,railway, airports, dams, seaports,and power plants within five years. To achieve those numbers, the goverment has issued more regulations that will give legal protection to officials and developers. One of the ministries that are assigned to build infrastructure inthe ministry of public works and housing,which responsible for the development of basic infrastructure in the field of public works and housing. Accoding to the minister of public works and housing Basuki Hadimuljono, infrastructure development aims to reduce the disparity between regions in indonesia as well as to provide the infrastructure that can guarantee access to all regions in indonesia. In providing access,especially from and to remote areas, infrastructure also serves to decrease prices of goods and services, which in turn could accelerate economic growth in those areas. Moreover, it also could increase indonesia`s global competitiveness.
