Back to a Future Seoul : Cheong Gye Cheon Restoration Project

The historical Cheong Gye Cheon restoration began in July 1, 2003 with the demolition of the 5.8 km Cheonggye overpass which ran through the heart of the city. Since the inaugural of the Cheong Gye Chein Restoration Project in July 2002, many programs, including "the Cheong Gye Cheon Revival", have been established. Extensive research on basic plans and socio-humanistic issues were conducted with leading NG0 experts outlining the structural layout of the Cheng Gye Cjeon Restoration. As a result, the fundamental plans for the restoration were established in Februari 2003.
