Aceh - The Ministry of Public Works in improving connectivity between regions not only builds large-scale infrastructure such as toll roads, but also populist infrastructure such as suspension bridges. The suspension bridge is a connecting access that has a vital role to facilitate the mobility of social and economic activities of the community.

One of the suspension bridges being completed by the Ministry of Public Works is the Gampong Lamseupeung-Gampong Lambhuk Suspension Bridge that connects Lueng Bata District with Ulee Kareng, Banda Aceh City. This suspension bridge was built 80 meters long and 1.80 meters wide over the Krueng Aceh River.

Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo hopes that the existence of this bridge will have a positive impact on the surrounding community, especially in accelerating the daily mobility of people who previously had to take a detour quite far.

Head of the Aceh National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) Heri Yugiantoro said that the construction of the Gampong Lamseupeung-Gampong Lambhuk Suspension Bridge was designed with a symmetrical rigid type and bore pile foundation, thus meeting the standards for a suspension bridge that is safe and comfortable for pedestrians and motorcyclists.

Heri Yugiantoro said that the physical progress of the bridge construction until June 23, 2025 has reached 90.76% and is targeted for completion in July 2025. With the completion of the construction of the Gampong Lamseupeung-Gampong Lambhuk Suspension Bridge, one of the people's infrastructure, it is expected to facilitate mobility and cut the travel time of the community between villages and between sub-districts which previously had to rotate far because it was separated by the Krueng Aceh River.

Heri Yugiantoro said the presence of the Gampong Lamseupeung-Gampong Lambhuk Suspension Bridge has been eagerly awaited by the community because its benefits not only facilitate access between regions, but also make it easier for residents to worship to the Keuchik Leumik Hajj Mosque which is the main place of worship.

"Previously, worshipers from Lambhuk and Beurawe had to pass through the distant Simpang Surabaya Bridge. Now, access is easier, especially for the elderly and worshipers who want to worship on time," said Heri Yugiantoro.

With its iconic design, the Gampong Lamseupeung-Gampong Lambhuk Suspension Bridge which is located opposite the Keuchik Leumik Hajj Mosque is also expected to add to the beauty of the area around the Mosque and has the potential as a photo object to increase tourist attraction in Banda Aceh. (Tri)
