Ministry of Public Works and Commission V of the House of Representatives Encourage the Optimization of Weighbridges on the Jakarta-Merak Toll Roads
Merak - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) together with Commission V of the House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia encourage the optimization of weighbridge facilities on the Jakarta-Tangerang-Merak Toll Road as an effort to reduce the rate of Over Dimension and Overload (ODOL) vehicles and maintain Minimum Service Standards (SPM) toll roads. This was conveyed during a specific working visit to the Jakarta-Tangerang-Merak toll road on Thursday (26/6/2025).
Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the House of Representatives, Roberth Rouw, emphasized the importance of monitoring excessive heavy vehicle traffic. According to him, ODOL vehicles not only accelerate toll road damage, but also cause state losses and potential accidents.
"Providing the best service to the community is not only fulfilling toll road SPM, but also paying attention to existing traffic. Like the ODOL vehicle traffic that is busy on this toll road section. This is a note for BPJT and BUJT colleagues to better fulfill the rights of toll road users," he said.
The Operations Director of PT Marga Mandalasakti (MMS) stated that PT MMS as the toll road manager, supervises ODOL vehicles through the operation of weighbridges at three toll gates. Furthermore, it was conveyed that the weighbridge is operated every day as a preventive measure against cargo violations.
Roberth hopes that the utilization of weighbridges can be the main indicator in determining toll road tariffs and can reduce the number of accidents due to ODOL. "In the future, weighbridges can be one of the main indicators in determining toll tariff increases and are operated every day. Thus, weighbridges are not only accessories for determining toll tariff increases, but can also reduce the number of accidents and state losses due to ODOL vehicles," he explained.
Secretary of Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), Apri Artoto, conveyed BPJT's commitment in supporting the handling of ODOL on Toll Roads and monitoring the fulfillment of SPM from Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT).
Also attending the Specific Working Visit were BPJT Member of Stakeholders, R. Sony Sulaksono Wibowo; President Director of PT Marga Lingkar Jakarta, Widiyatmiko Nursejati; President Director of PT Marga Mandalasakti, Billy Perkasa Kadar; Safety and LLAJ Investigator of the National Transportation Safety Commission (KNKT), Wisnu Hariyadi; and Director of Facilities, Infrastructure, and Transport of Rivers, Lakes, and Crossings of the Ministry of Transportation, Sigit Widodo.
