Minister of Public Works Utilizes Digital Technology, Monitors Progress of Public Schools Reaching 61.78%
Jakarta - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo affirmed his ministry's full commitment in accelerating the rehabilitation and renovation of educational infrastructure through the Sekolah Rakyat Phase I program. As of June 22, 2025, the national progress of this project has reached 61.78%, with a completion target of July 8, 2025.
Minister Dody said that the utilization of a digital service information system is an important breakthrough to closely monitor the progress of projects in 63 locations throughout Indonesia in real-time. This technology includes Continuous Auditing Continuous Monitoring (CACM), the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM), drones, and CCTV connected online.
“We utilize digital technology to increase transparency and efficiency in the management of education infrastructure projects. Basic infrastructure such as school buildings, dormitories, sanitation facilities, and various other learning support facilities must be properly available. This is very important so that children, especially from extreme poor families, have access to quality education,” explained Minister Dody in Jakarta, Sunday (22/6).
The Minister of Public Works also underlined the importance of this project as a real effort to support equitable distribution of education in Indonesia. “Good infrastructure is the key to supporting an effective and quality teaching and learning process,” he added.
Furthermore, Minister Dody conveyed the progress of projects in several key locations in Jakarta. As of June 22, 2025, construction progress at Sentra Handayani has reached 72%, Sentra Mulya Jaya 81%, and Margaguna Education and Training Center (Pusdiklat) reached 78%.
“The renovation work includes repairs to male and female dormitories, school buildings, teachers' offices, dining halls, teachers' official houses, toilets, and sports facilities, including the provision of furniture,” Minister Dody explained.
Minister Dody also stated that the construction of Sekolah Rakyat is an important part of alleviating poverty through inclusive and quality education.
“Through the construction of Sekolah Rakyat, we strive to provide free, decent and quality education facilities for children from extreme poor families,” Minister Dody said.
On a different occasion, Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti while reviewing the construction of the People's School at the Pangudi Luhur Integrated Center, Bekasi, Saturday (21/6) emphasized the importance of supervising the quality of construction and regulating the workforce in the field.
“The building is good, but please ensure the quality and the division of labor, because there are only 18 days left. Don't be late, be on time. Please make sure the roof and ceiling are not leaking. Please tidy up the cables that are still visible. Hopefully it will be completed on time with good quality,” said Deputy Minister Diana.
With this digital system, the Ministry of Public Works is optimistic that the target of completing the rehabilitation of Public Schools Phase I will be met on time, as well as providing tangible benefits for improving the quality of national education. (Tri/May)
