Jakarta - Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo has confirmed that the Ministry of Public Works will immediately conduct a comprehensive evaluation of its entire staff following the Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK) arrest operation in North Sumatra.

This evaluation aims to reduce the burden of high-cost economy in national development, as once stated by economist Prof. Sumitro Djojohadikusumo, who is the father of President Prabowo Subianto.

In a press conference at the Ministry of Public Works Office, Saturday (28/6/2025), Minister Dody expressed his concern over the incident. He emphasized that internal evaluation is very important and urgent for the sake of efficiency and transparency of development in Indonesia.

"The OTT incident by the KPK is a strong reminder of Prof. Sumitro's statement that Indonesia's development is still hampered by the burden of a high-cost economy. This results in a high Incremental Capital Output Ratio (ICOR). If budget leakage is not stopped, then development costs will be increasingly inefficient," said Minister Dody.

According to Minister Dody, this incident is an important momentum for all levels of the Ministry of Public Works to conduct a deep introspection. He confirmed that internal evaluations from echelon I to echelon III officials and Commitment Maker Officials (PPK) will begin next week after receiving approval from President Prabowo Subianto.

"With President Prabowo's blessing, next week we will start a comprehensive evaluation. This step aims to make the Ministry of Public Works truly clean, efficient and accountable. There should be no more budget leaks. Every rupiah of state money must be used for the welfare of the people," said Minister Dody.

On that occasion, Minister Dody also expressed his appreciation to law enforcement officials, especially the leaders of the KPK and the Attorney General's Office, for their commitment to maintaining the integrity and transparency of national development.

"We highly appreciate the dedication of the KPK leadership and the Attorney General's Office in guarding the integrity of infrastructure development. Their hard work is very helpful in realizing transparent development," said Minister Dody.

Minister Dody also emphasized that in the evaluation process, the principle of presumption of innocence remains firmly held.

"As a leader, I am a father to all levels of the Ministry of Public Works. This evaluation will be carried out fairly and objectively while upholding the presumption of innocence. However, I also emphasize that there is no room for the slightest tolerance for corrupt practices," concluded Minister Dody. (May)
